Frequently Asked Questions About French Bulldog Puppies

French Bulldog puppies for sale Kendall

Here are answers to some commonly asked questions about French bulldog puppies along with other interesting facts on the breed in general.

What is a French Bulldog's personality like?

French Bulldog puppies and adult Frenchies are easy-to-handle, can be well-trained with a little work (for such a little dog, these guys have a big personality, and can be stubborn) and are a very sweet and sociable breed, who get along with other people and animals. Frenchies can be mischievous as pups, and have a great sense of humor, but also very affectionate, making them one of the greatest companions and family dogs in the world.

Do French Bulldogs bark a lot?

French Bulldogs so seldomly bark that people may ask you “does your dog bark”? But they will when they have something to really speak up about it. Also, while they do not bark, this doesn’t mean they don’t communicate. Frenchies will talk to you using a complex system of yawns, yips, and gargles, so give attention to them and communicate!

Where do we source our French Bulldog puppies for sale in Kendall?

How much do French Bulldogs shed?

French Bulldogs do not shed very much, but do experience a heavy shed during the spring and summer months when their winter coat is no longer needed.

Brush your French Bulldog puppies coat to naturally remove loose fur and keep the living room clean.

How is the French Bulldog's Health?

Like all flat-faced breeds, French Bulldogs can have breathing issues and are more sensitive to anesthesia. French bulldog puppies and adult dogs can have eye issues such as entropion and cherry eye, and skin issues due to allergies. Important to find a vet familiar with the breed.

With the heat down here in South Florida, it’s important that you keep your French Bulldog indoors most of the time with access to air conditioning. They are not a dog to be left outdoors, especially in warm / hot temperatures.

What health guarantees come with our French Bulldog puppies?

How well do Frenchies take criticism?

If you scold your French bulldog puppy for doing something wrong they did, you may see that they take it very seriously and mope around the house. It can take them a bit to bounce back to their normal happy selves. Positive reinforcement and encouragement work well for Frenchies.

Do French Bulldogs make good apartment dogs?

French Bulldogs are one of the best choices for apartment dogs. Do to their small size and very little exercise requirements, you can’t ask for a better dog breed for an apartment.

French Bulldog Puppy Information

Often described as "a clown in the cloak of a philosopher," the French Bulldog originated as, and continues to be used as a companion dog. The breed is small and muscular with heavy bone structure, a smooth coat, a short face and trademark "bat" ears. Prized for their affectionate natures and even dispositions, French Bulldogs are generally active and alert, but not unduly boisterous. Frenchies can be brindle, fawn, white, and brindle and white. We love these guys so much, we even did a whole blog dedicated to the beautiful breed.

History

Lacemakers in 19th Century Nottingham, England selectively bred the early bulldog for a downsized or "toy" bulldog, for use as a lap pet. When the Industrial Revolution displaced some lacemakers to France, they took the dogs with them, and soon the "toy" bulldogs became popular in France, where wealthy Americans doing the Grand Tour saw and fell in love with them. In the late 1800s these "toy bulldogs" became known as French Bulldogs.

French Bulldogs are indoor dogs, but require air conditioning in warm weather. While good at alerting their owners to danger (Look! The UPS Guy is coming!), their main role is that of lap warmer. French Bulldog puppies require minimal exercise and grooming.
